Practical life
During the early years, the development of practical life skills is foundational. It is through these practical life activities that children develop a sense of independence, a sense of connection, responsibility to the broader community.
At Rootworks, children learn to care for themselves, each other, and their surroundings. Children become active participants in their environment rather than passive spectators.
We participate in daily practical skill-building activities, including: baking bread, cooking soup, setting the table for a shared meal, caring for plants, harvesting vegetables, cleaning smudges left on windows, sweeping crumbs away, washing dishes, and more.
