Our space

Located in Ajo, Arizona, on Hia C-eḍ and Tohono O'odham land.

The indoor environment offers free access to create art, build with blocks, tinker, read books, engage in imaginary play, cook and bake, and learn the lessons of practical life.

Families are also part of the environment--we welcome families to visit and participate in the program at any time. Family members may come to teach recipes, tell stories, and share skills and holiday traditions.

An enclosed yard provides space to move freely and many opportunities to observe wildlife.

In the outdoor environment children engage in open ended imaginary play, and they have access to natural sensory materials such as sticks, mud, dirt, water, and sand.

The children garden year round, nurturing vegetables and flowers from seed to stalk.

The wider community

Traveling via cargo bike, we visit playgrounds, the Curley School, the public library, public art spaces, and the community gardens of Ajo.

Enriching outdoor experiences abound, as we take the time to explore nearby washes/arroyos, the little Ajo mountains, and local walking trails.
